Daniel Murariu

DANIEL MURARIU's involvement in volunteer work goes back to his high school years when he first volunteered at a local hospital in Aurora, IL. His desire to help and find ways to become constructively involved in the community deepened during those years. In college, he volunteered for Tulane's Emergency Medical Service (EMS), and while in medical school he volunteered at a homeless shelter in New Orleans and participated in a medical mission to an impoverished region of Nicaragua. He has earned a Bachelor of Arts in History as well as one in Classical Studies, and is currently in his last year of studies for a combined Medical Doctor and Master's in Public Health Degree with a focus on International Health, all from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. His interest in public health has recently led him to accept writing medical articles for http://www.ele.ro/specialist_40.html, a site which has over 135,000 weekly visitors and where he feels he can have a positive influence over a large audience. During the 2006-2007 academic year he is working for Harvard School of Medicine as a researcher on a project in Bucharest, Romania.

As a long time teacher, VIRGINIA MURARIU has always enjoyed the experience of helping others. Whether as a teacher in special education or volunteer at the Dupage Children Museum, Virginia states that 'making sure children receive the best education and have the opportunity to succeed are some of the most important things that this organization aims to accomplish.

Nearing the end of her medical training, AMARIS is seeking ways through which to remain actively connected to public health needs in Romania and other developing countries, ways in which to offer time, expertise, and be a dynamic part of the many positive changes which have already begun to take place! She's looking to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine, but also to be a part of local initiatives in health care and health education. She believes that being a physician is both a wonderfully empowering as well a very humbling commitment and that healing is a vocation most truly lived out by continuously giving of yourself to those in pain and need.

George Prisacaru

GEORGE is interested in making changes in his community. He believes that making a positive difference in someone's life is remorable and rewarding. Throughout his intense political activity he often took individual claims and brought them to the congressman he worked for; these, in turn, were sometimes broadcast to the Romanian parliament. A few years ago he decided to switch from engineering school to law because he believed the law degree would help him do more for the public good.

Monica Filip

MONICA characterizes herself as a sensitive person, especially when it comes to elderly or young persons. She thrives on helping those in need and underprivileged. Even though she hasn't had too many opportunities to become involved in many such activities, she eagerly awaits the start of the campaings initiated by this NGO.
