On Saturday, March 1st, 2008, Tulane Outreach to Romania, a student interest group of Tulane University School of Medicine, honored retired Dean Joseph C. Pisano, a former dean of admissions, in honor of his nearly forty years of dedication to education for the medical student body.
Dean Pisano has been an important role model, teacher, and student-advocate at Tulane since 1968. As a faculty member, financial aid staff member, and Dean of Admissions, Dean Pisano has had a positive influence on literally thousands of students. In honor of Dean Pisano’s continuing legacy, Tulane Outreach to Romania has agreed to financially support the Dean J.C. Pisano Scholarship initiated by our NGO. This annual scholarship will provide housing, food, and school supplies for a student-in-need, located in rural Romania.
The evening consisted of a Middle Eastern cuisine dinner, and a slideshow by Daniel Murariu explaining the scholarship and by Sina Pourtaheri, Tulane Outreach to Romania President and member of the Daniel Murariu Foundation, of the current objectives of Tulane Outreach to Romania. Dean Pisano was introduced by Eric Simms, Tulane Outreach to Romania vice-president.
The dinner was attended by several medical school deans, residency and fellowship directors, as well as physicians from Tulane Hospital and medical students.
